GatorMoto - New Facility in Gainesville, Florida

It is official... on October 4, 2008 we have officially moved into our new facility. While some more work is still needed to be completed, we welcome everyone to come visit us at our new location.

On this page, we have posted pictures showing the progress of our new 13,000sqf state of the art facility through its construction stages. This facility is part of a brand new 80,000 complex, The Plaza at Emerald Lake. The space we are not using will be available for lease or sale. The Plaza at Emerald Lake is a beautiful complex, and we will be honored to be the first company to occupy space there. All of us at GatorMoto would like to thank the Gainesville community for supporting us as much as you have since our opening. It is your support that has allowed us to move into the largest power sports facility in Gainesville! Project Timeline

December 2005 - 8.6 acres of land are purchased in NW Gainesville to house GatorMoto's new power sports facility
September 2006 - Application and site plan drawings are submitted to the Gainesville City Building Department
May 2007 - Approval is granted by the city of Gainesville to begin construction on the facility
June 2007 - Some trees are initially removed to create a driveway through the property. A fence must be constructed around the 8.6 acres to protect the endangered wetlands on the North end of the property. Several large trees must also be barricaded to protect them during the site clearing process.
June 29 - Inspections were completed by the City of Gainesville on the tree barricades and wetlands fence. Both inspections passed. Complete site clearing can begin July 2.
July 4 - The majority of the land has been cleared. The largest trees will be removed by the end of the week.
July 14 - All trees and brush have been removed. The land is now cleared. The cut up trees will be hauled off next week.
July 20 - Surveyors came to stake off the location of the buildings and the lake.
Aug 23 - The lake has almost been completely dug out. The lake will be nine feet deep and will be filled with fish and other aquatic life. Crystal clear natural ground water has been filling up the lake for several days now.
Sept 17 - The lake has been completed. Now, sewer and water lines will be layed on the property.
Oct 8 - Sewer lines, man holes, water drains, and fire hydrants have been installed. Workers have begun to lay electrical piping. A family of wild turkeys has begun living on our property because of the beautiful new lake.
Oct 18 - Piping for electricity, telephone, and cable tv have been layed for the entire 70,000sqf complex.
Nov 9 - Workers have completed laying and leveling over 1500 stakes for the roadway, curbs, and parking lot. Starting on Monday, workers will start pouring the concrete to form the road system for the entire 70,000sqf complex.
Dec 7 - 75% of the curbs have been formed for the 8.6 acre property. All curbs should be completed within 10 days.
Dec 13 - The power company began installing electrical transformers on the property. Electricity has now been installed for all 70,000sqf of building space.
Dec 24 - The curbs have been completed. The roadway is now being formed for concrete pouring during the first week of January.
Jan 10 - Concrete crews have begun pouring the roads. The rear 1/3 of the roads have been completed.
Jan 16 - Foundation permits have been approved.
Feb 1- The road and parking lot has been completed. Next week, crews will begin constructing an outline of our building in preparation of the foundation pour happening next month.
Feb 20 - The entire sprinkler system has been installed and completed.
Feb 29 - The buildings have arrived and our building permit has been approved. Construction of our building will begin in March.
Mar 20 - Crews have begun installing the plumbing and electrical components for our building.
Apr 10 - Our site has passed its foundation inspection. Tomorrow night the concrete foundation will be poured. Crews will start putting up our building next week.
Apr 13 - Our foundation has been poured. Crews will begin the mason work on our building tomorrow.
Apr 22 - Construction of our building has begun!
May 13 - The siding is going up on our building! Also, today a 3' Alligator, "Wesley" has begun living in our lake.
May 17 - The first of our two lit fountains has been installed. Also, a floating platform for Wesley and our ducks has been installed.
June 09 - The shell of the building is complete. Our interior buildout permit has been approved.
June 20 - The steel for our second story has been installed.
July 01 - The wood trusses for our second floor have been installed.
July 07 - This week the electrical, plumbing, HVAC and second story walls will be completed.
Sept 15 - All power is turned on. HVAC is up and running. We are currently installing the flooring and painting the walls. We hope to receive our CO within the next 2 weeks. Final inspections are taking place now.
Sept 25 - Well, two years and nine months after we purchased the property, we are proud to say we finally have received our certificate of occupancy. We will be operating out of our new facility next week!
Oct 04 - Our doors have opened to the public at our new facility.
